West Crete from Chania Airport
Chania Airport (CHQ) is the preferred arrival point for visitors to the island's western half — considered by many Greek travel specialists to be the most beautiful region of Crete. The city of Chania (Venetian harbour, covered market, old town meze restaurants) is 15km from the airport. Balos lagoon is 60km. Elafonisi pink-sand beach is 75km.
